On March 12, 2025, the University of Lagos, in collaboration with ICLED Business School and Soroptimist International Ikeja, hosted an inspiring event at the UNILAG NIT Hub to mark International Women’s Day. Themed “Accelerating Action for the Rights, Equality, and Career Advancement of Women,” the program aimed to empower young girls by fostering discussions on gender equality, career growth, and breaking barriers.

The event featured an engaging panel discussion with distinguished female professionals: Mrs. Bunmi Oguntuase, Professor Temilola Oluseyi, Professor Blessing Ayinkwa, and Mrs. Olabisi Ibitayo. They shared powerful insights on overcoming gender biases, embracing ambition, and using education as a tool for empowerment. The message was clear—women must challenge societal stereotypes and confidently pursue careers in STEM, business, and leadership.

A standout moment was the keynote speech by Mrs. Olabisi Ibitayo, who introduced the acronym BOLD:

🔹 Defy the limits – Push past barriers and redefine success.

She reinforced that backgrounds do not define one’s future and rewarded engaged students with copies of her book. It was a day of motivation, knowledge, and inspiration, leaving young girls with a renewed sense of purpose and determination.
